How to get promoted (checklist)

I have studied the journey of successful marketing leaders very closely throughout my career.

Based on that experience, I think there are few things you need to be aware of if you’re eyeing a promotion.

Here’s a checklist to get promoted…

• Own a number and grow it constantly
• Be accountable. If something goes wrong, it’s up to you to fix it.
• Forecast your future in the current role. Dream your goals, put them into action and then report on the results. You don’t need anyone’s permission to try things out.
• Constantly raise the bar in your current role. Make it difficult for yourself to find someone else to take over your role
• Become a specialist in your current role. Write playbook, create checklists to help the next person succeed
• Do things faster but without comprising on the quality and speed
• Manage up. Run your own 1:1s with your managers. Help them with problem-solving.
• Be open to taking feedback and don’t take it personally
• Help your team become successful. Start by hiring and onboarding an intern and help them launch their career
