I had the same question running on my mind so I decided to measure the engagement (views, likes, comments) of my last 10 video & text posts (Dec 2020).

My LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sanjanarm/

Here’s what I saw!

Last 10 text-only post
V — 1,36,883
L — 901
C — 212

Last 10 video post
V — 15,575
L — 618
C — 92

Can you believe it?

LinkedIn for some reason favors text-only posts. But don’t be blindsided by this.

If you look at the stats again, I got 15.5K views for my videos. That means 15.5K people saw my face on the video & will be able to recognize me and my brand the next time they see me on the feed.

If you are looking to build your brand with only text/image posts, it’s gonna take you K’s no of views to start building the brand recognition.

Whereas with videos, you will be able to achieve that faster. Videos show the REAL you!

When people start recognizing who you are and what you stand for, that’s when you start building a TRUE brand.

So I suggest you mix text & video posts in your content strategy. That’s what I do.

But, if you’re like most businesses, want traffic to your website, posting links and images is crucial.

What are your inferences?
